Notes/Summary: She hadn't really known why she loved him, but she loved him - of that she was sure...



At the beginning, Raven hadn't been really sure, why she loved him.

She loved him… that much she knew – Raven just hadn’t known why.


“Where are you going?” Raven jerked up from her thoughts only to meet a pair of masked eyes looking at her with concern on his handsome face.

“Out… I need a bit of fresh air…”

Funny, how easily the lie came out, but the truth was not an option.

Robin looked at the blue-caped woman for a while with narrowed eyes, but his eyes softened as the leader of the infamous Teen Titans spoke up again.

“Just take care, okay? I… just… take care of yourself…” He trailed off letting his masked eyes wander over her ashen skin before coming to a rest on her amethyst eyes.

It was then – in this small moment - Raven realized – with a cruel bang in her heart – that Robin knew… knew the truth.
Somehow, she wasn’t surprised… at least not about Robin knowing, but about him acting so calm… but she couldn’t muster up any courage to ask him about it or to confront him.
It was not her place to confront…

So the dark Titan only nodded, “I will…” She said somewhat choked. There was nothing else to say… at least no now.

With one last - sad - glance the Boy Wonder turned his attention back to his files and Raven proceeded her way out of the tower and into the night.

In the beginning she hadn’t known why she loved him and then… after some time (after some regular nightly visits and rendezvous), Raven had thought or feared she loved him because of the similarity – because of the similarities to a certain masked, spiky-haired vigilante.

Yes, the similarities between Robin and Red X were striking.

Heck, Robin had been Red X – even if it had been just for a while.

Sometimes, Raven had caught herself imagining the possibility of Robin still being Red X and that she loved Red X, because it was the man her heart had desired… but that had been just sometimes.

Nonetheless, Raven had been afraid of loving Red X… afraid of using him as substitute… afraid, because he was the next best thing to Robin.

A wry smile managed to creep itself on her lips as the sorceress thought about the two men in her life – the hero and the villain.

It was almost ironic how much those two men resembled each other: Both cocky, arrogant, stubborn, charming and competitious – neither could refuse a challenge… and still both would die for the people they loved.

Too many similarities… too many…

“Hey…”

Again, her thoughts were interrupted. Raven looked up to see the black-clad villain waiting for her under an oak – just like very single day… night.

“You came…”

 Red X spoke as she walked closer to him and it was then Raven noticed that Red X wasn’t wearing his usual skull-mask, but rather an x-shaped domino mask.


Similarities…


“I always come…” Raven replied ignoring the nagging voice in her head and X grinned at her as he pulled her close to his chest. Her eyes closed instinctively while X lowered his head to hers.


“Why do you love me?”


The question was whispered against her soft, grey lips – just like every time… it was never ‘do you love me’… always ‘why’…


“Because you’re everything I’ve ever wanted…”

And as his soft lips met hers in a gentle kiss, Raven realized that he indeed was everything she had ever wanted… and so much more…

This is my first entry for the 5 True Loves community It's not really good and I found it rather difficult to write a Raven/Red X story, but still, I somehow like it... Anyway, I would love to hear how you like it... just tell me... ^_^
